“D+D 2014” will gather an emerging technical community of specifiers, architects, contractors, and facility owners united by their interest in achieving technical excellence in the use of surface technologies, such as architectural coatings, concrete and masonry sealers, roof coating systems, concrete polishing, decorative treatments for concrete and other substrates, and materials and treatments for curtain wall metals.

The event will take place at the historic Hilton Netherlands Plaza Hotel.

Paper Titles, Abstracts Invited

The magazine is seeking titles and abstracts of papers to be submitted for the conference, “Advances in Protective and Aesthetic Technologies for Buildings.”

Technologies to be considered for the conference include those contributing to building performance, such as air barriers and reflective roof coatings, as well as those designed to provide aesthetics and durability to building substrates, such as sealers, coatings, polished concrete finishes, fire-resistive materials, and others.

Durability + Design, published by Technology Publishing Company/PaintSquare, is focused on building performance and aesthetics.

In dealing with these subjects, papers will focus on the key issues of selecting and specifying the most appropriate materials and installing them according to good technical practice. Also to be considered are descriptions of emerging surface materials and technologies that will contribute to building performance and aesthetics as they are put into practice.

Titles and abstracts of 150-250 words are due by Aug. 25 and must be submitted to Harold Hower at hhower@durabilityanddesign.com.

‘A Common Conversation’

In addition, several technical societies and industry associations are expected to develop and lead their own sessions at the event.
