United Kingdom-based paint manufacturer HMG Paints Ltd. recently took home two awards at the British Coatings Federation’s annual awards ceremony.
According to HMG’s emailed release, the company received the Marketing Campaign of the Year and the Excellence in Training Award at the 2023 BCF Awards, held Oct. 19 in Birmingham, England.
"As a family-owned business, we take immense pride in receiving these awards, particularly when considering the formidable competition among the industry's major corporate players," said Steve Crossman, Chief Operating Officer of HMG Paints.

The Marketing Campaign of the Year was awarded for the company’s AI-generated color range, Nature's Embrace. Launched in March, the range utilized ChatGPT to create a range of colors and theme for the range. HMG says that it also used AI Image Generators to create a number of the visual assets to support the campaign, which was then supported by organic traditional marketing methods.
According to HMG, the judges recognized the campaign for “showcasing cutting-edge technologies in a traditional industry,” as well as creating a “unique selling proposition that could potentially revolutionize how paint collections are created and marketed in the future.”
The Excellence in Training Award came for the company’s training scheme, titled, “Company of HMG Training Programme.” HMG says that the program was developed by senior leaders within the business and utilizes the generations of knowledge from its staff to create training that is tailored for each company role.
HMG says that it takes a “continuous improvement approach” to training and development and strives to continuously implement new training modules to ensure that the company keeps up with the latest technological trends and industry developments.
The judges of the awards reportedly commented that HMG’s training program stood out due to the company’s focus on using skilled staff to identify existing training gaps.
"This double honor is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our entire team at Riverside Works," added Crossman.
The BCF Awards are held annually to celebrate excellence and innovation in the U.K. coatings industry, according to the BCF. This year’s 13th annual awards ceremony reportedly saw over 200 attendees at The Grand Hotel in Birmingham.
