Arkema Finalizes Acquisition of Polimeros Especiales

At the beginning of the month, specialty chemicals company Arkema announced that the acquisition of privately-owned Mexican high-performance waterborne resins producer, Polimeros Especiales, had been finalized.

The deal, which was first announced back in July, will reportedly strengthen Arkema’s Coating Solutions segment in high-growth markets. At the time, Arkema also noted that Polimeros Especiales’ high-performance waterborne resins could be utilized to formulate a broad range of applications in markets such as architectural and decorative paints, textiles, pressure-sensitive adhesives and construction.

In 2021, the acquired company was reported to achieve roughly $40 million in sales.

“We are very happy to welcome the talented team from Polimeros Especiales into Arkema,” said Richard Jenkins, Senior Vice President, Arkema Coatings Solutions. “This company offers leading and complementary solutions in many diverse markets which will bring scale to Arkema’s solvent-free offering and advanced technologies.”

The addition of Polimeros Especiales also aims to drive the development of further sustainable innovations together with Arkema’s other key solvent-free technologies, and reinforce its presence in the Americas market.

“Arkema’s vision and strategy embrace sustainability as a central aspect, and Polimeros Especiales shares this commitment to help our customers achieving their sustainable development goals,” said the Director of Polimeros Especiales. “Our team is excited to join Arkema and contribute to developing and producing more sustainable solutions.”
