Webinar Archive: Productive Blast Cleaning

Although Technology Publishing Co. has wrapped up PaintSquare Connect, its signature virtual event for the protective and commercial coatings industries, an archived library of its featured webinars remains available to registrants until May 31.

Over the course of the next few months, PaintSquare Daily News will be highlighting some of those webinars, reminding readers to experience these educational presentations before they’re gone.

The event was co-sponsored by Sherwin-Williams, Carboline, Finishing First (Powered by LMCI) and McBrayer & Associates.

Productive Blast Cleaning Operations

Joe McGreal, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Ervin Industries presented “Achieving a More Productive Blast Cleaning Operation,” on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, as part of the conference’s surface preparation track.

This webinar highlights how mineral abrasives tend to disintegrate at a rapid rate. Only after a few cycles are these abrasives rendered into dust, leaving the user or blaster with great quantities to dispose of. In addition, the productivity cost of working in a dusty environment also increases the possibility of rework.

However, the webinar also discusses how mechanical surface preparation does not necessarily have to be this challenging and goes over a collection of viable alternatives for a more productive blast cleaning operation.

About the Presenter

McGreal is noted to have more than 30 years in the surface preparation industry with extensive knowledge in the contractor and industrial markets. Over the course of his career, McGreal has served on various boards for SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings and the American Foundry Society.

McGreal has also been an instructor at the annual Shot Peening & Blast Cleaning Conference. Cyrrently, McGreal works as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Ervin Industries, where the company’s goal is to demonstrate the economic and environmental advantages of using steel and stainless steel blasting abrasives.
