Like a virus, CUI is insidious, not readily observed and thus difficult to detect, and it costs a fortune to deal with CUI effectively. Against this backdrop, join Dr. Mike O’Donoghue and Vijay Datta, MS as they explore transcendent coating solutions to combat the dreaded CUI. Dr. Mike O’Donoghue is the Director of Engineering and Technical Services for AkzoNobel Coatings Ltd. (Canada). He has a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Surrey, England. Mike has been a keynote and plenary speaker at several international conferences. With more than 30 years of experience in the protective coatings industry, Mike and his co-author Vijay Datta have authored over 60 research papers, articles and conference papers for chemical, marine and industrial publications. Six papers won SSPC’s Outstanding Publication Awards (1998, 1999, 2004, 2010, 2013, and 2015) and five won SSPC’s Editors Awards in the Journal of Protective Coatings and Linings (2001, 2008, 2011, 2012, and 2015). The US Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) has named Mike as one of the Protective Coating Industry’s top 25 leaders and thinkers of the past 25 years. He is the recipient of a Clive H. Hare Honours Award.

Vijay Datta, Director Protective Coatings, North America
International Paint, LLC

Vijay Datta is currently Director Protective Coatings, North America at International paint LLC. He has a BS in chemical engineering from IIT Delhi, India and a M.S. in Chemical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, NJ. With more than 44 years of experience in the protective coatings industry, Vijay and his co-author Mike ODonoghue have authored over 60 research papers, articles and conference papers for chemical, marine and industrial publications. Six papers won SSPC’s Outstanding Publication Awards (1998, 1999, 2004, 2010, 2013, and 2015) and five won SSPC’s Editors Awards in the Journal of Protective Coatings and Linings (2001, 2008, 2011, 2012, and 2015). Vijay Datta was the recipient of Mortimer T. Harvey award as the first person to commercialize the Phenalkamine curing technology for use in Marine and Protective coatings. He is holder of two US Patents.
