Edison Coatings

Edison Coatings specializes in custom-matched repair and coating systems for concrete, stone and masonry with a particular focus on historic restoration projects. Each year, Edison produces custom-made materials for hundreds of projects throughout the United States and Canada. Some recent projects include custom mortar design for the Smithsonian Castle in Washington, custom repair mortars and grouts for the United Nations building in New York and design and production of repair mortars and historic concrete replication mixes for 11 historic bridges on Connecticut's historic Merritt Parkway.

Although concrete is often perceived to be a structural material, valued for its performance rather than for its appearance, in some applications it must meet both functional and aesthetic requirements. While this is obviously the case in architectural concrete applications, where color and texture of the concrete are an integral part of a building's design, aesthetics may also be of importance for repair projects involving a much wider range of buildings and structures.

This webinar will provide insight into the challenges and the process of producing aesthetic repairs for concrete that do not require coatings or the cyclical maintenance costs that coatings applications engender. Case studies will be used to illustrate what can be achieved when projects are handled appropriately, and what can go wrong when they are not.
