The webinar introduces the physical and thermal performance characteristics of aerogel-based insulation, defines thermal bridging in comparison to clear area determination of thermal performance, explains how aerogel materials can influence heat loss reduction in key facade thermal bridging applications, and discusses how the heat loss reduction characteristics of aerogel-based insulation technology in targeted applications can influence reduction of overall energy consumption in commercial buildings in a preselected climate zone. Participants are eligible for one AIA LU credit.

Learning Objectives:

Learn the nature of silica-based aerogel insulation

Understand the physical and thermal performance characteristics of aerogel-based insulation and its advantages in comparison with current/existing insulation technology

Understand the concept of thermal bridging in comparison to clear area determination of thermal performance (conductance)

Understand how the physical and performance attributes of aerogel-based insulation technology can influence heat loss reduction in key facade thermal bridging applications.

Learn how the heat loss reduction characteristics of aerogel-based insulation technology in targeted applications can influence reduction of overall energy consumption in commercial buildings in a preselected climate zone.
