A protective coatings specification can be complex and sometimes confusing document to navigate through. Yet it is regarded as the project rulebook for quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) personnel responsible for inspecting the quality of work. An inspection plan is a tool that can make the process of understanding the inspection checkpoints invoked by a coating specification more streamlined, and can be a key communication tool for both contractor and inspection personnel. But planning to conduct daily inspection of surface preparation and coating installation work goes far beyond preparing just an inspection plan, and includes comprehending project documentation, having copies of referenced standards, ensuring the correct type and functionality of inspection instrumentation, verifying safety training and site-compatible PPE, and understanding documentation procedures and formats. This webinar will review the purpose and benefits of developing an inspection plan, illustrate two formats for inspection plans and demonstrate how to populate an inspection plan based on the requirements of a generic coating specification. It will also describe many other planning tasks that a QA and QC coatings inspector should consider before arriving on the project site.

Participation in this webinar will enable you to:
1. Describe the purpose and importance of an inspection plan

2. Identify two common inspection plan formats

3. Describe the pre-project tasks that should be considered by QA/QC personnel
