Russell Raad, President
Russell Raad is the president of Abrasives Incorporated, with offices in North Dakota and
Minnesota, and home to Black Magic® Coal Slag. Russell started at Abrasives Inc. in 2006 as the GM, and became president in 2010 when he arranged the Employee Stock Ownership Plan to create an
employee-owned business. Russell’s top priorities for Abrasives Inc. include supplying customers with superior product, service, knowledge and quick delivery. Abrasives’ approach to customer service is to answer every call with a live person, because details matter. Every time you
call, you are talking with an owner at Abrasives.
Relationships matter; knowing the customer and their needs is important to fostering a deeper relationship. Having a strong supply chain and hard-working employees who care are essential to success. By offering equipment, paint, and parts, we have a better understanding of the importance of availability and timeliness to projects.
In his off time, Russell enjoys hunting pheasants and elk, hiking, and spending time with his wife, Marti, and kids, Skyler (3), Brinley (10) and Harley (13).
Dominic DeAngelo, Director of Sales & Marketing, Reed Minerals
Dominic DeAngelo is the Director of Sales & Marketing at Reed Minerals, a division of Harsco
Corporation located in Camp Hill, PA. He is responsible for the sales and marketing of the BLACK BEAUTY® product family which supports the abrasives and roofing markets along with the development and implementation of global growth strategies for the division. Prior to Harsco, he held leadership positions with Owens Corning and the General Electric Company. He graduated from the University of Dayton, with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and completed his M.B.A. at Capital University. He is married with three children and resides in Mechanicsburg, PA, He enjoys running, travel and coaching his daughters’ soccer and basketball teams.
Allison Kaelin, Owner
Alison B. Kaelin, CQA, has more than 30 years of public health, environmental, transportation and
construction management experience in the coatings industry. She is the owner of
ABKaelin, LLC, a provider of EHS, coatings quality assurance, consulting and related
services to the protective coatings, construction, fabrication, and nuclear industries. Kaelin is a certified quality auditor and a NACE-certified coating inspector. She was a co-recipient of the 2016 Coatings Education
Award, a co-recipient of the inaugural SSPC 2014
Women in Coatings Award, a 2012 JPCL Top Thinker, a 2012 JPCL Editor’s Award winner and an SSPC
Technical Achievement Award winner in 2005. Kaelin is also a JPCL contributing editor.
Jason Vukas, VP, Sales and Marketing
Jason began work in the abrasives industry as a college student working in a facility producing coal slag abrasives and roofing granules. He learned the business from the ground floor and developed an understanding of not only how the products were made but also the importance of quality and on time shipments. Upon graduating from North Park College in 1992 (BS, Biology) he moved on to a career in the environmental services field. He began work in the lab at Clean
Harbors in Chicago and in 1994 he joined Pollution Control Industries. He held several key positions over the next 8 years at PCI in both sales and operations. In 2002 Jason was part of a group that acquired the assets of Stan Blast Abrasives and formed U.S. Minerals. He has spent the last 17 years as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing overseeing the company’s sales growth and expansion to become a leading supplier of abrasives to the surface preparation industry.
He is married with two children and enjoys,
travel, skiing and watching his kids compete in sports.
