This webinar will provide a basic understanding of the concrete polishing industry and the benefits and characteristics of polished concrete floors in the service environment. The webinar will convey information on the design, execution, appearance, function, operation and maintenance of polished concrete floors; discuss the pros and cons of polished concrete floors; and provide life-cycle cost comparisons between polished concrete floors and other floor-covering types. At the end of the webinar, attendees will have learned the basics of polished concrete and be able to decide whether or not polished concrete floors are a viable option for their particular operation or service environment.

Learning objectives:

• Learn the basics of polished concrete floors in the service environment—for both new and existing concrete floors.
• Understand the critical elements of polished concrete during the design, QA and construction process.
• Review quality assurance during critical stages of execution.
• Discuss the elements of preventative maintenance, repairs, life expectancy and life-cycle costs of polished concrete floors.

Terry Carroll, Commercial Services Group Manager
KTA-Tator, Inc.

Terry Carroll, P.E. is the Commercial Services Group Manager at KTA-Tator, Inc. In this position, Mr. Carroll manages the efforts of the group in performing building envelope diagnostics and providing recommendations and specifications for resolution of moisture intrusion problems. His company provides various consulting services to the commercial building industry on a nationwide basis. Mr. Carroll’s career covers nearly 40 years of engineering design, construction, and facilities management of commercial and industrial facilities in manufacturing, power, and retail industries. Prior to joining KTA, Mr. Carroll was with a large international multi-store retailer for over 20 years. There, he served in various roles including Structural Engineer and Director of Construction, Retrofits, and Facility Management providing oversight for both new and existing facilities. Mr. Carroll is a registered Professional Engineer and a licensed General Contractor. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from NC State University and an MBA from Winthrop University. He is an active member of the National Society of Professional Engineers serving as NC state president and in many other roles at the state level. Mr. Carroll has served as a lecturer at various engineering and trade association conferences.
