Navy Standard Item (NSI) 009-32 has a specific method and procedure for collecting and documenting dry film thickness (DFT) readings. The purpose was to collect, document, record and analyze DFT data collected at three NSRP member shipyards using three methods of data collection, data recording, and data analysis. The three methods include:
1. Current NSI 009-32 practice 2. A prototype fixed calibration DFT instrument 3. A DFT instrument with scanning technology and digital data storage
This presentation will compare and contrast these methods for:
1. Speed of data collection 2. Speed of data documentation 3. Accuracy of documentation 4. Inspector comments and feedback
