Pros:- There is a possible extension of the tanks' performance life time
It also helps in reducing the cost of surface preparation and complete recoating.
Cons:- Weak film areas and contaminants will cause delamination of newly installed coatings. This will cause contamination of the tanks' contents and give way to corrosion attack on exposed areas.

Pros:
Execution period (entry into service in a short time).
Reduced cost.
Valid for tanks with little responsibility.
Cons:
There may be undetected areas with poor adherence.
The detachment of the paint layer, in addition to corrosion, can lead to load contamination.
Corrosion spots that have not come to the surface of the coating.
Other faults in the coating not visible to the naked eye.
The quality of the coating cannot be assured.
If the contents of the tank are responsible, the interior lining must be done completely again (blast cleaning and application of the paint system).
