Repainting decreases this desirable feature, and it must be for economic reasons that repainting is specified over removal and repainting. This will be particularly correct when we are using potassium silicate paints. The excellent breathing feature and reactive adhesion with concrete are very much compromised when applied over a conventional, acrylic-type emulsion.
