The reflective coating is a silicone-modified, potassium silicate product, white with vacuum glass spheres. The silicone modification will enable the coating to resist ponding water. We have found this product to be perfectly sound after 2 weeks immersion.
The potassium silicate binder with its perfect UV resistance is the best for a heat-reflective coating. The inorganic polymer does not change with time and collect dust as with organic polymer, making it ideal for long-term heat reflection in the dusty outdoors. Heat reflection comes from good old fashioned dispersed titanium dioxide. Glass spheres also help. We get an SRI of 100-106.
