When? ALWAYS!!!
Why? Even coatings with outstanding edge- retentive properties would have between 50 and 70% edge retention. A stripe coat ensures adequate dry film thickness on edges, outside corners, crevices, bolt heads, welds, and other irregular steel surfaces.

Always stripe coat separately edges and manual welds.
