A coating with a balance high shear will provide a thicker film build. A technical data sheet of the product should state the volume solid as well as the recommended wet film and dry film thickness of the coating. To ensure that the right film thickness of the coating is applied, use the wet film gauge which conform to ASTM D4414 to measure the film thickness and then convert it to dry film thickness using this  calculation : dft in microns = wft in microns X (%vol. solid/100), Otherwise, use a coating thickness gauge for non-ferrous substrates to measure the dry film thickness.
