What is the best way to prevent tropical hardwood deck lumber like ironwood from developing a gray patina in sunlight?

If you decide to try and keep the deck from graying, it will be an up-hill battle that will include recoating very frequently with a long oil. The better option, if you wish to maintain color, is to use a different type of wood that is still fairly rot-resistant, such as cedar.
