Bead blasting of concrete floors through the use of machines made by such companies as BlasTrac and BlastPro will achieve a specified Concrete Surface Profile such as CSP-3/4 without the release of dust in the process. Shotblasting, to me, is the use of a free exposure, sand-blasting, dust-producing system relying upon a trained operator to achieve the desired result.

Getting a good profile on the concrete isn't a con. It is a vital part of achieving good adhesion. The cons are the dust caused by the blast media and its mitigation. The answer is good equipment and good containment policies.

The profile that it will leave on the concrete is one of the cons of using shot blasting, and one of the pros is that it will remove all of the coating and clean the concrete.
