Some of these high solids coatings are very abrasive, and can wear out a tip in only a few dozen gallons or sooner.

Use the right tip for the viscosity and fan patter ...read more Use the right tip for the viscosity and fan pattern. Adjust pressure to just above where the coating pattern makes tails. I saw a demonstration of an HVLP turbine gun vs an airless with a fine finish tip. Using the same paint, a latex semi-gloss thinned with Paint Mate(not water), the airless appeared to have much less overspray and went much faster.
