Apply SSPC AB standards to determine abrasive cleanliness prior to application of coatings. SSPC-SP 1, Solvent Cleaning, should be carried out before any coating work takes place.

Use SSPC-AB 1, AB 2, and AB 3. Also consult ASTM D 4940, Vial Test, to assure that the abrasive is free of grease, oil and other contaminants.
