How can you justify the cost of installing an auto-blast machine and a paint booth in a fabricator's shop, and what resources are available to carry out such an analysis?

The cost would be justified by the increase in through-put and reduction in re-work. The equipment will allow for better cleaning/surface prep, reducing dirt and outside contaminants which can ruin the quality of the paint job. The costs to redo a paint job include man hours, time, material (cleaning two times plus the cost of labor and material for painting). Having a controlled environment such as a paint booth will allow for higher quality and less re-work. Keep track of current time spent on surface prep, the cost of materials and man hours. Most likely, the equipment will lower your operating cost and increase quality and productivity. So much money is saved by cutting time and getting the job done once.
