What is most effective treatment for steel contaminated with MIC before painting?

Selected Answers

From James Prevatt of SPEC-GUARD on February 22, 2019:
Once MIC holes are discovered, use grinding methods to trace and expose tunnels. Using all required safety and MSDS requirements, apply a liberal application to saturation of 7-10% Hydrogen Peroxide. Thoroughly flush the surface with clean water, air dry and repeat the process. Once complete, again thoroughly wash with fresh water and allow to fully dry. Fill all exposed pits with an approved 100% solids epoxy putty  and strike flush to the surface. This is old school but consistently works.

From Robert Vail of AECOM on February 20, 2019:
Clean with UHP water jetting, followed by abrasive blasting.
