Which generic coating systems are suitable for protecting pipeline internals carrying highly abrasive media?

From Daniel Agnew of Nukote Canada on January 23, 2018:
The second "soft" option mentioned by Warren Brand would include pure and modified polyurea linings, which can be applied in pipelines with robotic plural component equipment. Some newer formulations with high abrasion rsistance have outperformed 27% chrome iron blocks used as the control in SAR slurry abrasion testing in accordance with ASTM G75 procedures. A SAR Number as low as 21 has been observed for a modified polyurea compared to 78 for the Cr-Fe control.

From Ross McQue of Chemco International on January 18, 2018:
Depending on the nature of the job, including cost, type and quantity of abrasive media, there are several options. Generically, glass flake vinyl ester and glass flake polyester are mentioned. In addition to this, glass flake epoxy can be an easier option in terms of application than those above; and many ceramic options, including epoxy, are now available.

From Warren Brand of Chicago Coatings Group on January 9, 2018:
There are two ways to address an abrasive issue. Go really hard (VE) or go soft. Depending on the nature of the abrasive material, polyesters may also be an excellent solution.

From Robert Vail of AECOM on January 8, 2018:
phenolic

From Erik Andreassen of CPS on January 8, 2018:
During the late 90's a glass flake vinyl ester was specified for the internal lining of carbon steel evaporators at a desalination plant in the Middle East. The units have now been in service 20 years. A polyester glass flake was also applied to the internal of sea water intake lines.owing to several failures of the steel lines, including 48" control valves. The failure was due to the highly abrasive coral that was in the sea water, entering the refinery, at the rate of 17,000 cubic meters an hour. Both glass flakes are an excellent solution to abrasive and chemical exposure.
