What are the performance distinctions among various types of intumescent coatings (for example, water-based, solvent-based, epoxies and methacrylates)?

From Dirk Kuijken of ppg on September 28, 2017:
Solven tand water acrylic intumescent coatings are normally specified to produce a prescribed time of protection, typically 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. Selection of these types of intumescent is mostly done for cost and regulatory reasons. Epoxy intumescents have the advantage over the others in that they are more water- resistant, and so these are used in humid conditions.
