What are some ways to improve transfer efficiency of airless spray application?

Selected Answers

From Warren Brand of Chicago Corrosion Group on October 30, 2015:
You'll need the following: properly operating equipment, a  highly competent applicator spraying at the right distance, and a tip that's not worn. Some of these high solids coatings are very abrasive, and can wear out a tip in only a few dozen gallons or sooner.

From john schultz of o-gee paint co on October 28, 2015:
Use the right tip for the viscosity and fan pattern. Adjust pressure to just above where the coating pattern makes tails. I saw a demonstration of an HVLP turbine gun vs an airless with a fine finish tip. Using the same paint, a latex semi-gloss thinned with Paint Mate(not water), the airless appeared to have much less overspray and went much faster.
