What measures must be taken to determine and assure the cleanliness of an abrasive?

I agree with the statements above. However, I would add to Marco Antonio Alvarado Meneses, that SSPC-AB 4 could be used also.

I agree with the answers given, but the storage of abrasive shall be in an area that is clean and without humidity before use.

Apply SSPC AB standards to determine abrasive cleanliness prior to application of coatings. SSPC-SP 1, Solvent Cleaning, should be carried out  before any coating work takes place.

From Marco Antonio Alvarado Meneses of Sherwin Williams PerĂº on June 4, 2015:
Use SSPC-AB 1, AB 2, and AB 3. Also consult  ASTM D 4940,  Vial Test, to assure that the abrasive is free of grease, oil and other contaminants.
