What type of material should I use to achieve bright, bold colors on a concrete floor with heavy foot traffic?

From B Molser of IPCMobile, Division of Line-X of Hagerstown, MD on October 18, 2010:
With a few more details, I could be a lot more help in answering the question. Is the concrete floor ongrade, below grade, above grade? What is the MVER rate of the concrete? (Moisture Vapor Emmission Rate), is the concrete in an area that is climate controlled or outdoors and exposed to weather? With the limited information given, I would say that polyaspartic would be the most durable and flexible, and quickest option. In the interest of making the floor appear clean even when it is dirty, I would consider color chips, in multiple colors so the dirt would be less apparent, and if "slipping" is an issue I would add "grit" to the final coat of clear polyaspartic to the desired "non-slip" texture.

From Doug - of Envirocrete, Inc. on October 11, 2010:
"Bright and Bold colors" are generally the result of a combination of coloration products with substrate base color -- light or dark concrete. Lighter concrete will produce brighter colors when using dyes and/or pigments. The heavy foot traffic question relies more on the application or the coating system applied. Polished-concrete floors are great decorative-concrete flooring options for heavy foot traffic but require a lot of specialty equipment, while clear epoxy/polyurethane-coated floors can also produce a durable floor system designed for heavy traffic. My suggestion... talk with a few local decorative-concrete specialists, request proposals for application and choose the company with the most experience and best portfolio.
