How long after blasting can stainless steel be left before painting? If this time is exceeded, what further surface preparation is required?

From Warren Brand of Chicago Coatings Group on April 21, 2015:
The passivated layer on SS is very, very thin. When blasting SS, we treat it the same way as we would carbon steel and follow the appropriate standards and guidelines pertinent to carbon steel.

From Ronald Lewis of Corrosion Management Ltd. on April 17, 2015:
Six minutes if it is raining and underwater paint is not being used. No further surface preparation is required.
