What is the best way to prepare a horizontal concrete surface for successful application of an acid stain?

If previously untreated, use a rotary floor scrubber and simple green cleaner, then rinse.

The question is pretty vague. It depends. It depends on the age of the concrete, curing method(s), mix design, exposure since placement and current condition of the concrete.
