What is the best way to protect an exposed concrete foundation?

Selected Answers

From KARL BRINKMANN of PURE ASPHALT on November 27, 2013:
Try using a gray polymer rubber emulsion waterproofing. It should have excellent UV resistance to avoid degrading over time and exposure to the sun. Product also needs to be resistant to outside forces that could cut and puncture it.

From Pete Salmon of Perkins+Will on November 25, 2013:
Apply an elastomeric coating, as it provides waterproofing at the exterior surface but is still breathable from the inside out.
