What errors are most likely to occur when measuring dry film thickness on steel, and how can I avoid them?

Using DFT gauges that are not verified upon a similar DFT test piece before use on the specified coating.

Lack of calibration - Calibrate daily or before each job,, it's easy now with new electronic gauges. Lack of understanding of what there are trying to achieve - Understand the specification and what it requires. Lack of knowledge of protective coatings - Leave it to someone who knows and is qualified to undertake the measurements.
