To restore a 19th-century bridge in Minneapolis, officials from Collins Engineers recently announced that they’d be working with the Minnesota Department of Transportation on incorporating Microsoft HoloLens headsets with software from Bentley Systems. If the virtual inspections are sufficient, do you think other DOTs will adopt the software as well?

While I can certainly see the usefulness and benefits of augmented reality in bridge inspections (allowing the layering in of additional information beyond what the human eye can detect), there are still enough things being missed by actual, in person / on site inspections that going to a purely virtual inspection protocol seems ridiculous at this point. Add in data verification needs and legalities (Are you looking at this year's data for your virtual inspection? Are you certain? How can you verify that someone hasn't subbed in data from the previous inspection?) and I don't see it going mainstream quite yet.
