With the costs, time delays and structural problems involved in new rail transportation projects in Australia and California, should engineers be looking at Hyperloop-like alternatives, which can be built at a fraction of the cost, for future projects?


Yes. Trains still may be the safest form of transport, but they are costly to build; take years to design; and are difficult to maintain. It’s time for a change.
Yes, but the Hyperloop isn’t the answer. Why are we taking money away from existing infrastructure projects that need attention to throw millions of dollars at new projects that already have problems?
No. We know rail systems work. Hyperloop is still a pipe dream.
