Transcontinental crude oil pipelines are facing opposition due to concerns over corrosion-related leaks or spills. Is the opposition for this reason warranted?


Yes, pipeline corrosion is a serious problem and pipelines shouldn’t be made that long because of it.
It depends. The right coating or coating materials could prevent corrosion. If those are used, then the pipelines are safe.
No, corrosion happens, but it’s still the safest method of transporting crude oil.
