The Supreme Court rejected hearing the appeal of a ruling that requires paint manufacturers to pay more than $400 million for lead-paint remediation in several municipalities in California. Do you agree that the companies should be held responsible?

Momentary rant...my apologies in advance. Some litigation just doesn't make sense. I agree that there are many times where manufacturers should be legally held to account for the products they sell, but the evidence released in this case as proof don't lend themselves to the ruling in question. Adds and donations from in excess of 70 years ago, when the product was legal and readily available? What's next, the California suing GM, Ford and Ram for the greenhouse gas emissions of their pick-up trucks using current ads as proof? Or suing distillers for drunk driving deaths citing sponsorships and ads on tv during the "big game"? You can bet auto manufacturers and beer companies make political donations. Come on, California....you must have a case there too! If there was sufficient evidence to go after the manufacturers under the guise of "they should have known better, make them pay!", then why has no one gone after those who kept these products legal? California vs. California or California vs. OSHA or EPA or ?? anyone?
