Contractor Invited to Make a Splash
Collier County, FL, is seeking an SSPC-QP 1 certified contractor to paint and renovate a water slide at Sun-N-Fun Lagoon Water Park in Naples, FL.
Bids are due Wednesday (June 26). An optional pre-bid meeting was held June 13.
Project Details
The contractor will be required to clean and paint various surfaces on the water tower with a four-coat paint system.
Steel and concrete surfaces will be solvent cleaned to SSPC-SP 1. All exposed bare metal and rusted metal surfaces will be cleaned to a Near-White finish (SSPC-SP 10). Remaining surfaces should be brush-off blast-cleaned to SSPC-SP 7.
The steel access tower, slide supports, access stairways, landings and platforms will be coated with a zinc-rich primer, polyurethane intermediate, high-solids epoxy stripe coat, and a high-solids epoxy finish coat. Concrete surfaces will receive a waterproof coating application.
Contractors must also replace the roofing of the pump house, install new handrails, and perform miscellaneous repairs to waterslide piping and fixtures, according to the documents.
Other Requirements
Contractors must be SSPC-QP 1 certified. All surface preparation and coating must be done with OSHA-approved equipment. Once the surfaces have been prepared for coating, they must be inspected by the owner or paint manufacturer’s inspector.

About the Site
The 38-foot-tall water slide tower supports five separate water slides ranging between 220 and 350 feet in length. The attraction is located at Sun-N-Fun Lagoon, Collier County's publicly owned water activity center.
The center is located within North Collier Regional Park and surrounded by a preserve and an athletic complex for soccer and softball.
