Arizona Polymer, Quest Name New Leaders

Two coatings companies have recently announced new shifts in leadership.

Daniel Owen has been named president and CEO of Arizona Polymer Flooring (APF), a manufacturer of high-performance flooring products and concrete coating systems, and Marjorie (Marj) Shymske has been appointed president of Quest Construction Products, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quest Specialty Chemicals, a maker of specialty coatings.

In his newly appointed position, Owen will oversee the strategic direction of the company, including the development of new product lines and expansion into new markets.

Owen started his career at APF in 1992. Since then he has worked in virtually every department and position within the company, from general labor and chemical processing to sales and customer service, according to the company’s announcement.

Owen was promoted to vice president in 2006.

Owen’s parents, Dean and Carol, founded the company in 1985. He assumed ownership in April.

APF, based in Glendale, AZ, serves contractors, architects and end users nationwide. The company formulates a variety of products based on epoxy, polyurethane and acrylic technology. Distributors are located in 19 states.

Shymske Named President

In her role as president, Shymske will focus on Quest Construction Products’ long-term vision and strategy, while enhancing current processes.

Quest Specialty Chemicals

Marjorie (Marj) Shymske has over 30 years of professional experience. Prior to joining Quest Construction Products, she was president and CEO of Victor Oolitic Stone Company.

She comes to the position with more than 30 years of experience in sales, marketing and management, according to the Quest Construction Products’ announcement.

Prior to joining the company, Shymske served as president and CEO of Victor Oolitic Stone Company. Before that she had a 27-year career with Owens Corning, where she served in several sales management roles, including director of sales.

Quest Specialty Chemicals, headquartered in Charleston, SC, formulates, manufacturers and markets specialty coatings designed to repair, restore and preserve. The company serves a variety of industries including general industrial, commercial re-roofing and automotive aftermarket.
