SPF to Seal in Extreme Climes
Rhino Linings Corp. has expanded its insulation portfolio with a new closed-cell spray polyurethane foam (SPF) product for buildings in extreme hot and cold climates.
DuraTite 2.0 is a 245fa blown spray foam insulation that can be used in walls, ceilings, and roof decks of residential and commercial buildings.
Spray foam products expand upon application and form a sealed thermal envelope that will not sag, settle or deteriorate over time, according to the manufacturer.
Recommended Applications
DuraTite 2.0 has been formulated for application to substrates with a wide temperature range, making it suitable for both extremely hot and extremely cold climates, according to Rhino Linings.
The spray foam is also suitable for specific applications where vapor drive is a concern, the company says.
Characteristics
DuraTite 2.0 spray foam seals and insulates in one step, providing an installed R-value of 6.3 at one inch and an installed R-value of 26 at four inches, according to Rhino.
The product integrates 3 percent bio-based content and 3 percent pre-consumer recycled content in the finished foam, the company says.
DuraTite 2.0 is part of Rhino's new line of spray foam products introduced as a complement to its BioBased Insulation product line, which was launched in December 2012.
The new SPF is the first of many new products planned for the DuraTite brand, according to Pierre Gagnon, president and CEO.
The system is to be installed by approved contractors.
