Rapid-Cure Epoxy Offers Quick Return

TUESDAY, JUNE 4, 2013

A new tank lining offers fast return to service in a single coat, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings has announced.

Fast Clad 105ER is a 100 percent solids, low-odor tank lining for crude oil and ethanol storage that can be holiday tested in approximately four hours and returned to immersion service in eight hours.

Ethanol Resistance

The rapid-cure epoxy coating was designed for use in both offshore and onshore applications. It resists ethanol and is suitable for universal storage service, the company said.

Fast Clad 105ER can be applied at temperatures as low as 35°F. For rehabilitation projects, it can be applied in a single coat up to 50 mils DFT.

"When tanks can be returned to service the same day or overnight, revenue loss from downtime is kept to a minimum," said Ron Knecht, market director for Oil & Gas—North America.
