Concrete Antiquing Product Launched

THURSDAY, MAY 23, 2013

TiqueWash, a new water-based antiquing colorant, has joined NewLook International Inc.’s lineup of concrete coatings and finishes.

The colorant is designed to deliver a natural, multi-toned finish on textured concrete.

The colorant is a concentrated powder that may be mixed with clean water to achieve a translucent color wash; once applied, the product runs off high spots and settles in the low areas of relief or textured concrete.

It is also weather resistant and formulated for indoor and outdoor use, the Salt Lake City-based manufacturer says.

Features, Application

The formula contains no VOCs and is a safe, user-friendly alternative to hazardous and unreliable solvent- or acid-based antiquing products, the company says. It features ultra-fine polymers for improved surface penetration and strong adhesion, NewLook adds.

“TiqueWash also has strong adhesion when sealed with NewLook SmartSeal or other compatible sealers,” says Jacob Webb, vice president of NewLook International.

The product can be brushed on with a soft push broom or NewLook Applicator Brush. An instructional video on the product mixing and application is posted here.

TiqueWash is available in 16 earth-tone colors and packaged in three-pound containers, the company says.
