‘Cooler, Stronger’ EIFS Products Debut
Building material provider Parex USA Inc. has rolled out new basecoats and adhesives for Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems.
The products—121 Cool Base and 121 Dry HI—"boast extreme coolness and unsurpassed strength," the manufacturer said.
Features and Characteristics
121 Cool Base is a white EIFS basecoat and adhesive that is designed to produce a 30 percent cooler basecoat temperature than some other products. The product "results in less suction and hydration when a final finish is applied," which speeds application and improves the finish coverage, Parex says.
Parex calls 121 Dry HI a high-performance product designed for increased impact and puncture resistance. Parex recommends the product for ground floors and other areas where greater impact resistance is required.
The 121 Dry HI product also helps achieve higher ASTM/EIMA impact classifications, Parex reported. Users can achieve a "High" impact classification by using a single layer of intermediate mesh (12 oz.) embedded in 121 Dry HI, the company says.
Both one-component, polymer-modified, cement-based dry products are used as an adhesive to adhere EPS boards to existing substrates, a basecoat to embed reinforcing mesh, and a leveler in Parex EIF Systems.
