Primer Seals, Bonds to Rough Exteriors

Sherwin-Williams has introduced PrimeRx Peel Bonding Primer, a high-build product designed to bond even to alligatored or peeling exterior coatings.

The primer's filling, bridging and bonding characteristics allow contractors to achieve an even finish after topcoating, even on weathered or marginally prepared exterior surfaces, the manufacturer says.

PrimeRx Peel Bonding Primer is compliant nationwide, with less than 50 g/L VOCs.

Sherwin-Williams says PrimeRx Peel Bonding Primer:
  • Requires less sanding and scraping, which saves time, money and labor;
  • Goes on milky-white and dries clear;
  • Boasts a penetrating, thick, flexible, heavy-bodied formula;
  • Is compatible with any Sherwin-Williams exterior acrylic topcoat;.and
  • Cleans up with soap and water.

Tackling 'Less Than Perfect' Surfaces

"The saying, ‘time is money’ is especially true when it comes to preparing less-than-perfect surfaces for painting," said Karl Schmitt, vice president, marketing, Sherwin-Williams.

The product can be used over masonry, stucco, wood or chalky surfaces.

The product is designed to deliver a tight bond with strong adhesion to wood, masonry, stucco, hardboards or chalky surfaces.
