New ACA Panel to Focus Green Efforts
U.S. coating makers will coordinate their wide-ranging sustainability initiatives under one green umbrella with the formation of a new Sustainability Workgroup.
The new panel will "address a number of emerging issues in the area of sustainability" and coordinate the American Coatings Association's efforts "in response to overwhelming interest from its membership," ACA announced recently.
The new committee's membership has not been announced. The first meeting will be this month, ACA said.
"The topic of sustainability has been steadily growing in importance, and has quickly become not only a socially and environmentally progressive movement, but also a potentially important economic driver as well," ACA said.

ACA says it has "incorporated the philosophy of sustainability into many of its existing programs and activities," including:
The new Sustainability Workgroup will bring these issues "under a single umbrella" and coordinate activities with other ACA committees and workgroups, the association said.
Priority Issues
The Sustainability Workgroup will focus "on a set of concrete issues to support the paint and coatings industry and encourage sustainability," ACA said.
