JLG Expands Latin America Distribution
JLG Industries Inc., a global manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telescopic material handlers, has opened a newly renovated distribution center in São Paulo, Brazil.
“The investment JLG has made in the Indaiatuba distribution center underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to Latin America,” said Tim Morris, JLG Industries senior vice president sales, market development and customer support – Americas.
“We are now better positioned to support our customers as they take advantage of the many growth opportunities that are transforming Latin American into such an attractive and important market.”
“The distribution center also demonstrates, in a very concrete way, JLG’s commitment to Brazil and the local Indaiatuba economy,” said Marcio Cardoso, JLG Industries vice president of sales and aftermarket – South America.
Cardoso noted that Brazil was preparing to host both the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games, bringing "tremendous infrastructure improvements in the region." The expanded Brazilian facility is designed to support that growth and other growth throughout the fast-growing region.
New Inventory, Technologies
The 11,200-square-meter facility includes a renovated warehouse that accommodates a significantly larger parts inventory and a new selection system that speeds fill rates, according to JLG.
Officials also tout the company's mobile app for customers throughout Latin America. “Online Express allows customers to access direct quotes, warranty service and manuals, all in their native in-country language, making it easier for them to do business with JLG," said Richard del Campo, JLG Industries director of market development – Latin America.
Training and Customer Service
The updated facility also includes two new parts and service call centers, designed to improve customer support and service, as well as a new training area.
JLG Industries says it is poised to support the regional infrastructure growth expected with Brazil's hosting of the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games.
JLG says it is also working to improve the local community. On Nov. 10, employees at the Brazil Distribution Center helped remodel a children’s shelter in Indaiatuba. The company's equipment is also being used to build two million homes for low-income families across Brazil as part of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida public-works project.
JLG Industries Inc., an Oshkosh Corp. company, is the world’s largest designer, manufacturer and marketer of access equipment.
