New Epoxy System Tackles Moisture

FRIDAY, JANUARY 4, 2013

Stonhard has introduced a two-component epoxy system specifically designed to suppress excess moisture in concrete.

Stondri MVT, made for use under an overlayment, can be used in applications with existing concrete or new construction, the company says.

The epoxy polymer primer system prevents concrete floor moisture vapor issues such as delaminating, blisters or pinholes, according to Stonhard.

Uses, Features

The product is formulated for use under any Stonhard system in all industrial and commercial environments.

Packaged in units for easy handling, one unit will cover about 300 square feet over a relatively smooth substrate at 15-16 mils, according to product literature. (The product's performance will be limited if applied thickness at less than 15 mils, the company says.)

Stondri MVT can be applied using a 15 mil notched rubber squeegee and cures in four hours for a "tack-free surface and recoat," according to the company.

Based in Maple Shade, NJ, Stonhard manufactures and installs high-performance epoxy and urethane floor, wall and lining systems worldwide. Systems include heavy duty, slip resistant, self-leveling and decorative. Stonhard is a part of RPM Performance Coatings.
