New Product Announcement: Cabinet Wood Coatings

THURSDAY, MAY 9, 2024

Axalta Building Products, a market segment of coatings supplier Axalta Coating Systems Ltd., has launched a new range of solutions for the cabinet manufacturer market.

The Zenamel range uses “cutting-edge coatings technology” to enable application time savings, as well as surface protection and aesthetics.

Zenamel SP is reportedly engineered to condense a traditional three coating finishing system into a single coating to increase productivity, improve process yields and reduce the number of stock-keeping units needed.

According to Axalta, it is the only coating of its kind that offers the filling properties of a primer while also providing the moisture and chemical resistance of an enamel, without the need for a clear coat layer.

Zenamel T is designed to need only one coat of primer and enamel compared to the standard four coats of other solutions. The product is reportedly optimized to eliminate the need for two separate products for horizontal and vertical applications, saving costs and simplifing the manufacturing process.

Axalta adds that both products have already won an Edison Award, which celebrate outstanding examples of innovation and are among the most respected accolades within new product design.

“Our commitment to developing innovative wood coating solutions is at the heart of everything we do,” said Wade Arnold, Vice President and General Manager of Axalta Building Products. “Because of our investment in new technologies like the Zenamel range, OEMs can now reap major benefits in the form of operational e6iciencies and superior performance, as shown by our success at the Edison Awards.”
