New Product Announcement: Byko Viscometer Upgrade

Worldwide partner of the automotive, paint and plastics industries BYK-Gardner recently announced the release of a new self-calibration option for the byko-visc RT viscometer.

According to an emailed release from the company, the byko-visc RT is now upgradeable with the new time and cost-saving self-calibration User Certification option, meant to help reduce time and costs, while allowing users to self-calibrate throughout the life of the instrument.

The company says that the self-calibration option can be added on to a new byko-visc RT purchase or be added on after sale. Customers can send their instrument in for a one-time firmware upgrade and configuration to enable the function.

This option can reportedly save time, money and help to ensure that the instrument is always at optimal performance without losing any accuracy.

The byko-visc RT Firmware User Calibration Add-On Option reportedly:

  • Creates faster user calibration;
  • Overwrites factory calibrations from BYK;
  • Can be defaulted back to factory calibration at any time; and
  • Does not include SSA, Spindle, Certified Oil, Water Bath, certified thermometer which must be purchased separately.

Calibration kits for the product reportedly include:

  • User Calibration option (Firmware upgrade);
  • Small sample adapter;
  • Appropriate model spindle (TL5 or TR8); and
  • Appropriate model Viscosity Standard Oil (RT50 / RT500 / Rt5000).

Additionally, required accessories sold separately include:

  • Circulating Water Bath to maintain the SSA chamber to 25 degrees Celsius during calibration 120 volts/240 volts; and
  • Certified Thermometer (Pt100 8-inch stem recommended).

“Self-calibration ensures peak performance throughout the life of the instrument while saving time and money,” said Rick Trawick, Head of Operations, BYK-Gardner USA.
