New Product Announcement: Waterborne Acrylic Emulsion

Allnex, an international supplier of resins and additives, recently launched a single-component, self-crosslinking waterborne acrylic emulsion for furniture and kitchen cabinetry.

Setaqua 6753 reportedly allows formulators to achieve KCMA and IKEA R2 performance in a one-component system.

“Solvent-borne resins are widely used in the wood furniture and kitchen cabinet markets, however, waterborne technologies have made significant advancements. Even with these advancements, waterborne systems can struggle in pigmented or low gloss systems where stain resistance is needed,” Allnex wrote.

According to the company, using the emulsion in furniture and cabinetry coatings enables:

  • Stain resistance, including coffee, wine and mustard;
  • Rapid development of block and print resistance;
  • 100 g/l VOC; and
  • Matting for low gloss.

Setaqua 6753 is currently available globally. The product is also anticipated to be showcased at the Western Coatings Show in Las Vegas, taking place Oct. 15-18.
