New Product Announcement: Paint Sanitizing Agent

Worldwide producer of antimicrobial hygiene function and material protection for textiles and polymers Sanitized recently launched a new triple-action product for sanitation and in-can preservation.

According to the company's press release, Sanitized BDC is designed with three active ingredients to protect aqueous systems such as polymer dispersions and architectural paints. The additive offers an alternative to zinc pyrithione or a pure CMIT/MIT-based product due to biocide regulations.

The three active ingredients include:

  • DBNPA (2.2-Dibrom-2-cyanacetamide);
  • Bronopol (2-Bromo-2-nitro-1.3-propanediol); and
  • CMIT/MIT (Chlormethylisothiazolinone/Methylisothiazolinone).

The company reports that each has a different mode of action, allowing optimal efficacy and is therefore effective at low concentrations. Sanitized adds that BDC can also reduce manufacturing run times, simplify processes and increase product safety.

In addition to its sanitizing properties, Sanitized BDC reportedly offers long-term in-can preservation, with a pH stability range from 2 to 9. It is also ideal as a water disinfectant for paint manufacturing.

Test results have reportedly demonstrated that Sanitized BDC, at an active ingredient concentration of 0.10%, effectively and durably inhibits the growth of bacteria, yeasts and fungi.

The product is available now in Europe.
