Akzo Launches Powder Coatings Energy Calculator

MONDAY, JUNE 19, 2023

Global coatings manufacturer AkzoNobel recently announced the release of their energy savings calculator. This new feature will reportedly allow customers to calculate the energy and carbon reduction achieved by using the company’s Interpon powder coatings products.

“Sustainability is critical for all of us and helping customers to reduce energy is one of the many ways we can work with—and for—them in order to meet our shared ambitions,” said Jeff Jirak, Director of AkzoNobel’s Powder Coatings business.

“We’re proud to be the first in the industry to introduce this kind of openly available online resource,” he continued. “It will enable us to create better awareness and enable customers to really get to grips with the potential energy and carbon reductions that can be achieved with low cure powder coatings.”

Additionally, Jirak states that in order to understand the full range of possible benefits for individual users, further details of customer-specific situations would be needed.

Global coatings manufacturer AkzoNobel recently announced the release of their energy savings calculator.

Reportedly only available in Europe at this time, the calculator comes with the support of a detailed guide that can help customers better understand how changes in the powder coatings process can improve energy efficiency.

Some examples of these changes include checks for leakages in compressed air systems, improved insulation and regularly serviced and maintained process equipment. Interpon states that customers may also receive support from their technical service team.

“We’re fully committed to reducing the environmental impact of our products and processes while creating opportunities to make improvements across the value chain,” said Remco Maassen van den Brink, Marketing Director for the company’s Powder Coatings business.

“The energy savings calculator and guide are just the latest example of how we continue to help customers make informed decisions that can help them run a more sustainable business.”

According to AkzoNobel, this is the latest example of how the company is working towards reducing its carbon emissions across the full value chain by 50% by 2030. The new calculator can be found here.

According to the company, My Interpon Portal is more than an online shop for customers to buy Interpon products. The tool is reportedly a central online resources platform to help coaters not only discover powder coatings, but also see and experience how colors and textures will perform through a 3D lightbox color visualization tool.

Additionally, smart features and functionality enable customers to easily navigate the site and search for, find and compare hundreds of Interpon products. AkzoNobel notes that its administration is easy to manage new, ongoing and repeat orders.

A “Track and Trace” feature allows customers to see how their order is progressing. Past and present invoices can also be accessed, reviewed, printed and filed. Customers can quickly reorder products that they use most often.

AkzoNobel says that users can see what’s in stock and how quickly they can get the powder coatings they need. Each product includes its corresponding technical specification data for download.
